No, you just have to wait.. she said only death comes so easy. No, you just have to wait. It's a game of give and take. I've been fighting for my life, wait till showtime. Going, go time. This that life that you want, you don't want to wait for it too long. Broken pieces before us. Wait for the rain to slow down. Come on, it's go time, go time.

The words are in the paint — under it, over it. Stay with the surface and it gives up its faces: a man top center, a woman at the edge, and low in the middle, at lap height, inside the dark figure's outline — a child. A hand bigger than it should be, like seen by child’s eyes.

Early one morning he was driving with his young son on his lap, his child’s fingers on the wheel. A man in a mask came out of an alley and told him to stop. The car was stopped. He knew. He passed the boy to the nanny in the next seat, and then he took the bullets, and that was it. Give and take. Hours before, we were celebrating. He wanted to go home, so he did. April 4, 2011. A theatre man killed by a man in a mask. He used to say he was 100 per cent one thing and 100 per cent the other. Inside the man, another man.

Gold because he was radiant — showtime, the whole fan of it. Red for the rest. The white drops falling through everything: wait for the rain to slow down. It doesn't. Or it does.

People ask why it takes so long — I guess, you just have to wait.
